Learn how to find the words and the silence to show how deeply you care when communicating with others facing cancer. Community Lunch and Learn lectures are geared toward cancer patients, survivors, family, friends, and care givers/supports but anyone interested in learning more about cancer is welcome to join us. Every lecture has a question and answer section at the end so feel free to ask the presenter for clarification or more information. Please join the UNC Cancer Network for an online telehealth lecture with Meredith D. Keisler, PharmD, BCOP, CPP. It is estimated that over 50 percent of cancer patients will experience pain associated with their diagnosis, many of whom will require opioid therapy. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, opioids, prescription and illicit, are the main driver of drug overdose deaths in the US. Between 2014-2015, there was a 14.5% increase in drug overdose death rates in North Carolina. This lecture will discuss management of pain in an oncology setting while considering risk factors for opioid abuse and addiction. RN and Allied Health lectures offer CNE and ASRT continuing education credit (upon approval) for eligible participants. We invite anyone interested to view our lectures. Pig Out For The Cure is a charity BBQ fundraising effort by the agents of the Chapel Hill & Pittsboro offices of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston in conjunction with the HPW Foundation. Proceeds from the effort benefit UNC Lineberger. Fundraising starts with appealing to local business and individuals to become sponsors and support the cause. It culminates in a celebration of sponsors, fundraisers and the sale of BBQ plates from Gillis's BBQ.
