The inaugural North Carolina Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Oncology Symposium will bring together multidisciplinary providers from across the state who are interested in improving care for this patient population. With a focus on collaboration and education regarding the unique medical and psychosocial needs of AYAs in North Carolina, this knowledge-based symposium will feature a mix of didactic lectures, breakout sessions, and working groups. Participants will take away practical ideas to improve care for AYAs at their institution. Additionally, connections will be made that will foster future research and collaboration among North Carolina institutions.

Community Lunch and Learn lectures are geared toward cancer patients, survivors, family, friends, and care givers/supports but anyone interested in learning more about cancer is welcome to join us. Every lecture has a question and answer section at the end so feel free to ask the presenter for clarification or more information. This lecture will define what palliative care for children is like before discussing specific palliative care needs of children with cancer and supportive care needs of their families. It will also discuss the roles of the cancer care team, palliative care specialists, and other supports in providing palliative care to children with cancer.
