Dessert First Raises Funds to Support UNC Lineberger Endometrial Cancer Research

Dessert First, a fundraiser sponsored by The V Foundation for Cancer Research, was held on May 1, 2009. The fundraiser supported a cancer research grant honoring the beloved friend of Jimmy Valvano and former N.C. State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow.

The grant funded by the event will specifically support endometrial cancer research being conducted by Dr. Paola A. Gehrig, M.D. and Dr. Victoria Bae-Jump, both from UNC Lineberger.

The event included dinner, entertainment, auctions, and of course, dessert!

Anne Thompson, NBC News' chief environmental affairs correspondent and breast cancer survivor was a guest speaker. Nick Valvano, Chief Executive Officer of The V Foundation, served as the host for the evening.
