Community Lunch and Learn: Lecture on Cancer - An Update on Breast Cancer: Prevention, Treatment, and Survivorship
Please join the UNC Cancer Network for an online, interactive lecture with Carey Anders, MD. Researchers around the world are working to find better ways to prevent, detect, and treat breast cancer to improve the quality of life of patients and survivors. Learn about the progress that is being made. Community Lunch and Learn lectures are geared toward cancer patients, survivors, family, friends, and care givers/supports but anyone interested in learning more about cancer is welcome to join us. Every lecture has a question and answer section at the end so feel free to ask the presenter for clarification or more information. Radiation therapy is a successful, time-efficient, well-tolerated, and cost-effective intervention that can be crucial for the appropriate delivery of care for patients with advanced and metastatic disease. 9th Annual Coping with Cancer Symposium: Striving for Excellence in Palliative Care
Please join UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center for this symposium that will bring together national experts to address critical, cutting-edge topics in palliative and supportive oncology care. Angelo Volandes, MD, is the keynote speaker and will share his expertise into the science and clinical practice of communicating with patients. He is a physician, writer and patients' rights advocate who practices internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and is on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. Join UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Tony Williams Main Lobby of the N.C. Cancer Hospital for the 2017 UNC Oncology Excellence Awards Ceremony. These annual awards recognize oncology employees at UNC who demonstrate exceptional work and devotion to individuals with cancer, their families, and to the oncology profession. Awards will be given for oncology nursing as well as oncology service.
