Primary care providers are seeing an increasing number of cancer survivors in their practices. They are more likely than oncologists to manage chronic pain, address psychosocial concerns and refer appropriately to hospice. However, general medical training in cancer primarily focuses on the acute phase in the inpatient setting. This year’s conference will present evidence-based approaches primary care providers can incorporate into their practice to ensure that patients living with advanced cancer receive the high quality care they deserve.
For the eighth year, UNC Oncology will sponsor team in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk. This year the team will participate in the Raleigh walk on Oct. 22 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. Everyone is welcome to sign up to join the team. They also are looking for people who wish to donate on behalf of the team.
