In partnership with the Mountain Area Health Education Center, this all-day Continuing Medical Education Conference is provided through leadership of the course director Dr. Jared Weiss from the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The event will focus on tissue acquisition, predictive markers and prognostic markers to improve cancer care for lung cancer, colon cancer, melanoma and leukemia/lymphoma. 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits are available for this educational activity.

The 9th Chapel Hill Pharmaceutical Sciences Conference will be held at the Carolina Club, Chapel Hill on Thursday, October 15. The theme of the Conference is Frontiers in Chemical Biology: Transforming Drug Discovery. Featured speakers include Kevan Shokat (UCSF), Tom Muir (Princeton), Donald McDonnell (Duke), Bryan Roth (UNC), Stephen Fesik (Vanderbilt), Brian Shoichet (UCSF), Stephen Frye (UNC) and Tom Kodadek (Scripps). The registration is free, but is required by September 30 to attend the Conference. There is also a poster session at the Conference, and all posters are eligible for competition of poster awards. Students and postdoctoral fellows are highly encouraged to submit poster abstracts.
