A cancer diagnosis can be devastating at any phase of life, and particularly difficult for adolescents and young adults. Lauren Lux, LCSW, is the Adolescent and Young Adult Program Director with the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. She will join us to discuss practical strategies that may be used by family members, friends, and the community at large to support the needs of adolescents and young adults with cancer.

The National Cancer Institute-funded Geographical Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program (GMaP) Region 1-South, including North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, will host a free one-day symposium at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill on March 9, 2018, from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. ET. This symposium aims to allow researchers to exchange cancer health disparities research findings, network with other scholars, promote research collaborations and learn about NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Program Funding. UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center will host its 42nd annual scientific symposium on April 2-3, 2018, at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill, NC. The meeting's theme will be "Genome Instability in Cancer: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Opportunities."
