Research Study Group

The ITCMS Research Group (RSG) is professional development series designed and organized by ITCMS trainees to help them develop and maintain a competitive edge in the constantly evolving field of basic/translational cancer research. The vision of this exclusive training opportunity is to provide ITCMS trainees a series of career enrichment programs aimed at: 1) enhancing trainee understanding of the benchmarks necessary to achieve their long-term career goals in both academic and non-academic settings, 2) establishing a professional network consisting of current and former trainees, which in the future will serve as the basis for productive collaborations and career advice, and 3) creating additional opportunities for trainees to interact with ITCMS faculty while gaining exposure to highly diverse approaches to cancer research. Taken together, this unique approach to postdoc training provides a powerful platform for ITCMS trainees to develop strong skills in research communication, presentation, and collaboration, which are all essential for not only transitioning postdocs to the next stage in their careers but also providing them with the necessary tools to be effective leaders.
