Ofri Leitner, MS, CGC
As a clinical assistant professor of genetics and a genetic counselor, Ofri works with a team of providers to identify individuals who have an increased chance to have a hereditary cancer syndrome. She also provides genetic counseling at the UNC Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia clinic and the pediatric Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic.
After completing her graduate work in Arizona and working and traveling in Israel and the Mediterranean, she was happy to return “home” to Chapel Hill. She enjoys chasing her two young children (and her husband) around the house. This means she has to be a morning person, though not without her cup of coffee. Her next challenge to overcome is finding enough time in the day to get back out in nature and hike.
“Like most people who work at UNC Lineberger, I want to make a difference in people’s lives, " says Ofri. "I enjoy participating in the care of people from across the state and value working in a place whose mission is to serve the whole community, regardless of their resources.”
