Alicia Friedman, RN

As the Quality Management, Related Donor, and FACT Coordinator for the UNC Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Program, Alicia works with both staff and patients in different capacities. From revising program policies to ensuring compliance with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) standards to educating and coordinating related donors through the donation process, she is there.

"I have a passion for working closely with people and creating the most efficient processes," says Alicia.  "I am lucky that I get to do both in my role and that makes me happy to come to work each day."

She had always planned to serve as an emergency room nurse but found her calling working in oncology.  "I could not imagine myself working in any other field and am so fortunate to work with such amazing patients and co-workers every day," she explains.  "I genuinely love my job and go home each day knowing that I’ve made a difference!"

When not at UNC, Alicia can be found walking or hiking with her handsome little black pug, Oliver, relaxing by any kind of water source (be it the pool, a lake or the ocean), reading a book, doing yoga, knitting a scarf or watching movies and hanging out with friends.
