John Valgus, PharmD, BCOP, CPP

As a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, John works with the interdisciplinary supportive care team which focuses on the treatment and prevention of the symptoms of cancer and cancer therapy.

John is happily swimming in a sea of estrogen at home - he and his wife Ursula have three daughters: Josephine (4), Abigail (2), and baby Isabelle (9 months). A family full of water lovers, they are sure to make a "splash" wherever they go - they spend their summers by the pool or at Lake Hickory and visit the blue waters of the Outer Banks throughout the year.

"The main reason I have enjoyed working at UNC over the past decade is by far the people.  The team of health care practitioners I get to work with every day is second to none," says John.  "Everyone has their focus on the patients with a collaborative effort of providing the best care we can every day.  Our patients are a joy to work with and are always appreciative - they are a constant reminder that all the work and effort we put in is always worth it."
