John Collier, RN

John Collier, RN, is a clinical nurse IV for the outpatient clinics at the N.C. Cancer Hospital.

John CollierJohn's main role is to serve as assistant nurse manager for the second floor clinics, but he also provides patient care and often fills the Charge Nurse role.

He has been a nurse for almost 28 years but has been providing patient care at some level for close to 40 years. He has worked at UNC for close to 23 years, the last 12 with Adult Oncology. He  worked for almost 10 years in a pediatric inpatient unit that had a large oncology population and spent 12 years in the military, serving as a medic, practical nurse, and instructor.

John received his degree from UNC and loves the university. "I believe in the mission of this hospital, the care we provide to the people of NC, and I am proud to work here," he says.

For over 35 years, theater has been John’s primary social and creative outlet – he just finished  performing in a two-man play in Kernersville, NC and is currently directing a local production of Nunsense in Burlington. Over the years, he has also done a little film work. In the past, he enjoyed running and finished three marathons. He is currently trying to get back into shape to complete one more!
