Kimberly Ann Wehner, DNP, FNP-BC

As an in-patient Bone Marrow Transplant nurse practitioner, Kimberly treats and supports patients receiving a transplant. She provides consolidation chemotherapy and helps manage acute chemo toxicity and transplant related complications and infections.

Kimberly WehnerKimberly says that she didn't originally plan to work in the BMT clinic. "I actually applied for another position at UNC but was called to interview for this one. I truly can’t imagine myself anywhere else!"

The strength of her patients and their inspirational stories keep her motivated. "They are some of the strongest people I have ever met,"  she explains.  She is also inspired by her father. "My father has leukemia and experiencing cancer from the perspective of a caring family member has made me a better clinician."

The mother of two young children, six-year-old Ethan and two-year-old Avery, she has been happily married to her best friend for 11 years. They relocated to North Carolina from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania almost two years ago to be closer to her husband’s family (and the ocean). They are huge fans of the Steelers and the Penguins.

Kimberly says she is happiest when she is spending time with family and friends, preferably laughing. She and her family love being outdoors and spending weekends at the beach.
