Meet Susie Whorley
Susie has worked at UNC for twenty years, and as a program coordinator for the Gastrointestinal Oncology and Melanoma programs, she is grateful for the chance to make a difference every single day. She loves to get cancer patients comfortable and laughing.
“I’m a lifer,” she says. “I’ve declined promotions because the new job would’ve taken me away from the patients. I can tell you, most people who work here don’t do it for the money. They do it because of a deep sense of calling and purpose.”
In February of 2012, she shaved her head as part of a St. Baldrick's event, raising over $2,600 for her haircut.
In her spare time, she performs with Theatre Troupe based in Pittsboro and spends a lot of cuddle time with her two cats, Velvet and Sheba.
