Hats with Heart
Hats with Heart is a contest held annually that provides special hand-made hats to cancer patients experiencing hair loss. The goal is to bring warmth and dignity to the heads...and the hearts of cancer patients at UNC. The most recent contest was held in September of 2007.

This hat was voted “Most Popular” and was designed by UNC oncology nurse Delma Armstrong. When the hats were on display in the Women’s Hospital, everyone voted on their favorite hat to determine the winner of this category. Over 1,000 votes were cast this year.

This hat was the 2nd place winner of “The Elegant Lady” category and was designed by Rhonda Washburn of Auburn, Maine. Rhonda was so disappointed that her hat didn’t win last year and was absolutely thrilled she won in this year’s contest. |

This hat was the 2nd place winner of “The Trendsetter” category and was designed by Maria Kiser of Raleigh. She named her hat “Life Springs Forth.” |
