Richard Goldberg, MD, distinguished professor and chief of the division of hematology/oncology, has been appointed to chair the 2012 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium Steering Committee on behalf of the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

The 2012 symposium will be held in San Francisco, CA, January 19-21 and is supported by the Conquer Cancer Foundation and other sponsors.

Goldberg, who is also Physician-in-Chief of the N.C. Cancer Hospital, will chair the five-member steering committee that works with the program planning committee to create the meeting’s agenda and designate the most important findings being presented.
