UNC Lineberger will be well represented at the 2014 Pancreatic Cancer Purple Stride 5K. The event, organized by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, helps raise awareness and research funds for pancreatic cancer.

Once again, UNC Lineberger’s Autumn McRee, MD, assistant professor of medicine, and Tammy Triglianos, NP are organizing TEAM UNC. Last year, TEAM UNC was the number one team in donations and participation, and they plan to be the top team again in 2014! TEAM UNC is made up of physicians, nurses, staff, patients and families – over 70 people so far!

UNC Lineberger member, Channing Der, PhD, professor of medicine and members of his lab are also organizing a team. Postdoctoral fellow, Kirsten Bryant, PhD, is the top fundraiser on the Der Lab team. Dr. Bryant is participating in this year’s Purple Stride 5K in memory of her father who died from pancreatic cancer in March of 2013.

The Purple Stride 5K will take place on Saturday, May 17th on NC State’s Centennial Campus. WNCN news anchor Melanie Sanders will be the emcee at the event. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 am.

Join these teams in showing the community UNC Lineberger’s dedication to bettering the lives of pancreatic cancer patients. Go to the TEAM UNC website or the Der Lab Team website to join a team or support the cause with a donation.
