Bill Schaller recently joined UNC Lineberger as director of communications and marketing. Bill serves as the institution’s primary internal and external communications liaison, working with various departments across the university and health care system and expanding awareness of the center. He and his team will focus on elevating UNC Lineberger’s and the N.C. Cancer Hospital’s regional and national reputation through expanded media coverage, targeted marketing outreach and enhanced digital communications.

Bill most recently was the executive director of integrated media at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., and prior to that he was the director of media relations at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for 12 years. He can be reached at 919-962-3405 or bill_schaller@med.unc.edu.

Dominique Waters is the newest member of Lineberger’s HR team, where he is a human resources specialist. He comes to us from UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences. Dom will focus initially on TIM administration, postdoc reappointments and affiliates, but he has experience that enables him to address a range of HR-related questions. He is currently located in the HR suite on the first floor by the elevators and can be reached at 919-966-0800 or dom@email.unc.edu.

David Darr recently took on new administrative role at UNC Lineberger. He is now the assistant director for shared resources. He is responsible for overseeing the cancer center’s shared resources and facilities and providing an avenue of communication for and between administration, resource leaders and faculty as well as external customers of our shared resources.

David also provides grant support for those mechanisms that have broad institutional involvement such as UNC Lineberger’s NCI cancer center support grant. David will also maintain an active role in the projects of the Mouse Phase 1 Unit. He can be reached at 919-445-4198 or david_darr@med.unc.edu.

Wendy Sarratt has added day-to-day supervision and management of the human resources office to her responsibilities as associate director at UNC Lineberger. The HR team has four professionals who support job creation, recruitment, onboarding, time/leave tracking, payroll inquiries, classification/compensation actions, personnel records management, work authorizations, and immigration requests for SHRA (formerly SPA) and EHRA (formerly EPA) employees.

Wendy also will work with consultants in the School of Medicine and the Office of Human Resources on employee and management relations issues, as well as any legal and public safety issues at UNC Lineberger. She will continue to be involved in major cancer center initiatives, including the Clinical Protocol Office, the University Cancer Research Fund and large grant applications. Wendy can be reached at 919-966-7167 or wendy_sarratt@med.unc.edu.
