Movember is a national campaign where teams are inspired to raise money, and grow mustaches, to support men’s health.

The UNC Department of Urology, including members of UNC Lineberger’s Urologic Oncology program, joined together to raise over $11,000 for the Movember Foundation. Each November, groups from all over the world grow mustaches and raise funds to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.

In addition to growing mustaches, the team helped spread the word with a promotional video that was nominated for a “Moscar.” Their video was a take on the 2013 theme “Generation Moustache.” To watch their video, click here.

This year, UNC Department of Urology team, called the Fuzzy Nazzals, had 54 “growers” and raised $6,000 more than their original goal of $5,000. Last year, their first year of fundraising, the team raised $2,700. The team is ranked 169th in the country.

In addition to raising money, the team celebrates the end of Movember with an awards party at the Crunkleton in Chapel Hill. Dr. Nielsen won the award for best “Mo of the Year,” and Craig Rifkin,Radiation Therapist, raised the most money for the team.
