The Cancer Genome Atlas has published a comprehensive genomic profile of the cancer lung adenocarcinoma, one of the leading causes of death worldwide, in the journal Nature. Members contributing to the paper include Neil Hayes, Matthew Wilkerson, Katherine Hoadley, Charles Perou, Joel Parker, Mei Huang, Kimryn Rathmell and others.
The paper increases evidence for the links between the disease and mutations in the RTK/RAS/RAF genetic pathways, as well as revealing several other mutations important to the cancer. Researchers from UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center members provided mRNA sequence analysis among other contributions to the research.
