CHAPEL HILL — UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center radiation oncology researchers presented research findings and expertise at the American Society for Radiation Oncology annual meeting, held in San Antonio Oct. 18-21. The meeting was expected to draw more than 11,000 attendees to San Antonio.

“UNC Lineberger researchers are making important contributions to improve the practice of radiation oncology through our experience and research, and this was exemplified by our strong presence at the ASTRO Annual Meeting, the premier conference in our field,” said Lawrence Marks, MD, a UNC Lineberger member, the Dr. Sidney K. Simon Distinguished Professor of Oncology Research, and chairman of the UNC School of Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology. “I am most proud of all of the good work that we are doing, and of our terrific team that helps to support all of our efforts.”

Researchers presented research findings in oral sessions and poster presentations. Also, Joel Tepper, MD, PhD, a UNC Lineberger member and Hector MacLean Distinguished Professor of Cancer Research in Radiation Oncology, was a scientific discussant in a gastrointestinal cancer discussion session and was also a moderator of several other sessions. Bhishamjit S.
