NEW BERN, N.C. -- Hospital and city officials came together in New Bern Tuesday to celebrate an inaugural gift toward comprehensive cancer care.
Champ and ET Mitchell, a couple who experienced the disease first-hand, donated a million dollars towards CarolinaEast's new cancer center.
In partnership with UNC Cancer Care, the new three-story facility will house an array of clinical and support services.
Construction of the center will begin in early 2017 and is expected to take 14 months to complete.
