2009 Zeny Datiles Memorial Lecture and Luncheon

Aimee Shea, MPH, RD, CSO, LDN, UNC’s Oncology Outpatient Dietitian, presented Fighting Cancer With Food, to a packed house. Over 60 cancer survivors, family, and friends gained valuable knowledge about nutrient-rich foods that are proven to help protect against disease and promote good health. The 2nd Annual Zeny Datiles Memorial Lecture and Luncheon was held on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the UNC Clinical Cancer Center. This event, held each year during National Nutrition Month, offers cancer survivors, family, and friends educational and practical tips on ways to improve health through nutrition. This year’s luncheon menu featured recipes made with “super foods” highlighted in the lecture.

Sunflowers graced the tables of the luncheon in the form of fresh flowers, seed packets, and napkins. The sunflower is the symbol of Zeny’s Garden Nutrition Library, a program of The Patient and Family Resource Center.
