Breakfast Seminar: Jon Oberlander, Social Medicine, Health Policy and Management, and Political Science, UNC

Jonathan Oberlander’s research focuses on health care politics and policy, health reform, and Medicare. Currently, he is studying and writing about health care cost containment, implementation of the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and the political history of U.S. health care reform.

Dr. Oberlander is author of The Political Life of Medicare (University of Chicago Press) and is co-editor of a 3-volume book series (The Social Medicine Reader, 2nd ed.) published by Duke University Press. His articles have appeared in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Health Affairs, Annals of Internal Medicine, Social Science and Medicine, Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law, and Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. He has commented on health reform for a number of media outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, the New York Review of Books, National Public Radio, the BBC, CBS News and PBS.

The Cancer Outcomes Research Program Breakfast Seminar Series is organized by Drs. Ethan Basch, Stephanie Wheeler, and Matthew Nielsen. Please arrive at 7:45am to join us for a hot breakfast buffet prior to the start of our 8:00am meeting. Parking is available at the Rams Head parking deck next door; we will give you vouchers to park for free.
