Oncology nurse navigation programs are swiftly becoming an effective method of easing the burden of cancer treatment and reducing disparities in health care.

When you are facing the challenge of cancer, finding the right care and services you need can seem overwhelming. Your oncology nurse navigator works with you and your doctor to help plan the best care for you, both in and out of the hospital.

The role of the Oncology Nurse Navigator is to help coordinate the plan of care, including inpatient and outpatient services, that has been outlined. Our objective is to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that focuses completely on you and your family.

The Oncology Nurse Navigator works with the entire team of cancer professionals, including physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, chaplains, cancer researchers, librarians, health psychologists, complementary-medicine providers and community-resource providers.

The Oncology Nurse Navigator:

  • Provides individual and support services to patients and their families.
  • Coordinates elements of care.
  • Assists with communication to ensure that your doctors have all the necessary information to diagnose and provide you with effective treatment in a timely manner.
  • Helps you to learn about additional cancer resources.
