UNC Nicotine Dependence Program
The UNC Nicotine Dependence Program offers on-site tobacco cessation services for cancer patients who want to quit smoking or other tobacco use.
During the first appointment, a certified tobacco treatment specialist will help you make a plan for becoming tobacco-free.
This plan will include:
- Strategies for coping with your triggers
- Medication recommendations to help you quit, if your health care provider agrees that this is appropriate
- Regular follow-up to support you through the quitting process
We also provide support for family members who want to quit and education for health care providers about tobacco use treatment.
The UNC Nicotine Dependence Program is offered through the UNC Department of Family Medicine under the direction of Dr. Adam Goldstein. For more information, please visit the UNC Nicotine Dependence Program website.
