Two UNC Lineberger NIH-funded T32 training programs are now accepting new applications for 2023/2024 fellowship support.
Prospective trainees should review available information about T32 program(s) of interest, paying attention to eligibility information, application requirements and deadlines. Once ready to apply, prospective trainees should submit an application through the UNC Lineberger T32 program application form.
Cancer Control Education Program
The Cancer Control Education Program (CCEP) trains pre- and postdoctoral fellows for careers as independent investigators in interdisciplinary and collaborative cancer prevention and control research, with special focus on research targeting disparities.
CCEP provides 2-3 years of flexible, multi-disciplinary training and mentoring that includes a core curriculum and hands-on research experience. The program seeks applicants with diverse backgrounds, and particularly emphasizes recruitment of women and minority individuals.

Applications for 2023-2024 training are being accepted until January 31, 2023, at 5 p.m. EST.
Both predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships are available.

UNC Geriatric Oncology Training Grant
The UNC Geriatric Oncology Training Grant (UNC-GO) trains physicians (MDs, DOs) in clinical/translational and/or health services research at the interface of geriatrics and oncology.
UNC-GO exclusively focuses on training residents and fellows enrolled in American Board of Medical Specialties certified programs in Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Radiation or Urology, who plan to pursue academic careers in oncology with a focus on older patients (geriatric oncology).
The program provides 1-2 years of fellowship support and training that includes a specialized core curriculum, professional enrichment activities, and a mentored research experience individually tailored to each trainee’s needs. UNC-GO prioritizes recruitment of individuals from underrepresented minority groups and/or disadvantaged backgrounds.
UNC-GO Applications
Applications should be submitted by February 15, 2023, for a training start date of August 1, 2023.
Fellowship support for postdoctoral training is available.

UNC Integrated Translational Oncology Program (iTOP)
UNC iTOP provides up to 2 years of research training support for pre- and postdoctoral researchers from a variety of backgrounds in the approaches and tools needed to perform tissue-based research. iTOP focuses on training clinicians, basic scientists, and MD-PhD candidates in clinical/translational disease-based research by enabling physicians-in-training to develop expertise in translational oncology bench research, while immersing PhDs in a clinical/translational environment.

Cancer Epigenetics Training Program (CETP)
CETP provides postdoctoral fellows with up to 2 years of support for training in cancer epigenetics, allowing fellows to engage in interdisciplinary studies across the field’s subspecialties: Histone Biology, DNA Methylation, Chromatin Remodeling, RNA and Chemical Biology. CETP aspires to train the next generation of young scientists who focus on the role of epigenetic changes in human tumor development towards the development of novel and effective cancer therapies.

Carolina Cancer Nanotechnology Training Program (CCNTP)
CCNTP provides 24-36 months of support for postdoctoral training in cancer nanotechnology. CCNTP aims to equip outstanding young scientists with the multidisciplinary concepts and skills needed to improve cancer diagnosis and therapy based on concepts, tools and discoveries made in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Each trainee’s research will be co-mentored by a physical scientist and a biomedical scientist, providing a multifaceted training experience in the use of nanotechnology to diagnose and treat cancer that will enable trainees to become significant contributors to addressing emerging challenges in public health and medical research.
