To Submit Cells for Cryopreservation

The TCF can prepare and process your cell cultures for cryopreservation. We use a Planar programmable-rate freezing apparatus that reduces the temperature to liquid nitrogen storage conditions at the optimum rate for high recovery viability. Cultures submitted for cryopreservation should be 80% to 90% confluent (anchorage cells) or in mid-log growth phase (suspension cells) for best results. We freeze cells at a concentration of approximately 5 x 106 cells/ml. DMSO is used as the standard cryopreservative. Please advise us if glycerol is preferred. Cultures may be submitted Tuesday afternoon or before 10:00 AM Wednesdays.
