Here are answers to some of the most common questions we are asked.

When I make a gift online through an event fundraising website created by UNC Lineberger, will my gift be tax-deductible?

Yes. UNC Lineberger is part of The Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc., which raises funds to benefit the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and UNC Health Care. All gifts are tax-deductible subject to the limits allowed by the Internal Revenue Service. If you make a gift online through an event fundraising website we have created , UNC Lineberger’s External Affairs office will provide you with the necessary documentation for tax purposes.

How do I join a team?

On the front page of the event fundraising website, look for a link or a button titled "Register Here" or that has the word "Register" in it. When you click that link or button, you will be taken to a page with registration options, among them "Join a Team." By selecting the option, "Join a Team," you will be able to search and find the team of which you would like to be part.

What should I do if I accidentally signed up for the wrong team or donated to the wrong person?

No problem! Just contact us to let us know what needs to be changed with the gift or registration and we will be glad to make the needed updates.

How can offline donations be added to the online tally?

One of our staff members will need to add any offline donations (checks or cash) to the website database to ensure that the live tally displayed on the website is up to date.
