Gift from Triad Golfers Against Cancer aids lung cancer research

Triad Golfers Against Cancer has awarded UNC Lineberger scientists M. Ben Major, PhD, and D. Neil Hayes, MD, MPH, $60,000 to define gene mutations that are key drivers of lung cancer.

Triad Golfers Against Cancer LogoDefining these mutations is the first step in developing targeted therapies for lung cancer.

Dr. Major is an assistant professor in the Cancer Cell Biology program.  Dr. Hayes is an associate professor in the division of Hematology/Oncology.  Both are members of UNC Lineberger.

Since 2006, Triad Golfers Against Cancer has given UNC Lineberger $536,000 for innovative cancer research projects.
