Meet Patricia Cadle, MRE, BCC

Patricia is the first Oncology Chaplain at UNC Health Care and the N.C. Cancer Hospital. She joined the Pastoral Care Department as a full-time chaplain ten years ago, after three and a half years of serving part-time. Through her ministry she offers emotional and spiritual support to patients, visitors and staff affected by cancer and oversees the two sacred spaces in the N.C. Cancer Hospital - the Chapel and the Reflection Room.

Patricia Cadle

Patricia enjoys outdoor activities and being close to nature and can't get enough of the mountains of North Carolina, especially the Boone area. Always up for a good adventure, she fulfilled one of her lifetime dreams a few years ago when she flew in a hot air balloon and became a member of a hot air balloon flight crew in Raleigh.

With an undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation, it's no surprise that Patricia has played a variety of sports and games throughout her life. She has been most actively involved in the sport of field hockey. After playing for ten years (beginning in college), she began officiating and has done so for over 25 years (and counting).  In the near future, Patricia would like to travel to all of the US National Parks and photograph their many wonders.

“From day one of my training as a chaplain, I knew that I had found my ministry niche.  There is no doubt, chaplaincy fits my heart.  It is such an honor and a privilege to walk with people living with cancer; to be invited into the chaotic, unknown places and intimate sacred times," says Patricia.  " I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with such a dedicated staff here at UNC Health Care, and to meet such courageous and inspiring people every day.  I am blessed.”
