Meet Anne Dunlap, RN, BSN, OCN

As a Clinical Instructor and Lead Nurse Clinician in UNC's Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Anne teaches nurses, residents, and fellows best practices for taking care of oncology patients, especially regarding chemotherapy and its toxicities. She works with attending staff to help manage all aspects of care including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Anne DunlapAfter graduating from the UNC School of Nursing, Anne continued to work at UNC and has been employed here for 35 years.  She took a hiatus for two years to work at a research company, but quickly  returned to her first love, Gynecologic Oncology.  Through the years, she has seen vast changes in the health care system and says that UNC continues to offer leading edge care, no matter what.

"I have been blessed to be a part of our patients’ lives. The care of these patients is challenging, stimulating and rewarding," she says. "I have given them care and support, but it has never equaled the return. They teach me, daily how to be a determined, strong and courageous woman."

When not at UNC, Anne's days are full. She is helping to plan her daughter's October wedding that will be held in the Leatherwood mountains, and "there are new plans every day!"

When not working or planning a wedding, Anne makes jewelry and grows orchids (she says the secret to keeping the flowers happy is to talk to them every day). She has also written poetry for years and hopes to one day be published.
