Clare Kneis, RN, BSN

As manager of the N.C. Cancer Hospital's Outpatient Infusion Center and Gynecology Oncology Clinic, Clare is responsible for the support and professional development of 32 nurses and daily operations of two busy oncology clinics.

Clare KneisOriginally from England, Clare moved to North Carolina to marry her husband of 12 years. They have two boys, ages four and six, and three black cats (which are considered good luck in England)! Last spring, she completed her first ever triathlon, the Ramblin' Rose, and liked it so much that she decided to keep it up (she completed another one this past fall and is registered for the Ramblin' Rose this spring).

Clare decided to pursue a career at UNC based on a recommendation from someone in England. "It was the best recommendation I have ever had," she says. "I cannot walk through the hospital without seeing smiling, welcoming, friendly faces and no matter how hard my day is, I continue to smile because of the positive people around me."

After working in critical care and nursing recruitment, Clare took her current management role.  "The best part is that in my role as manager I can help provide the nurses with the 'tools' they need to care for patients to the best of their abilities," she says. "UNC Health Care is really on target with its mission of “Leading, Teaching and Caring."
