than 530 people attended the three Tickled Pink Events.
On October 3, Tickled Pink at Twilight premiered at Top of the Hill. Guests
enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, pink libations and a bird’s eye view of
Chapel Hill. This first-ever event attracted men and women, and haberdashery
items were available for sale.
On October 5, Tickled Pink luncheon at Squids brought together women from across
the Triangle. Guests were asked to bring a gift to be donated to the Patient and Family Resource
Center at UNC Lineberger.
The speakers included Drs. Linda Van Le, associate professor of surgery and
member of the gynecologic oncology program, and Etta Pisano, director of the
UNC Biomedical Research Imaging Center and vice dean for academic research at
the UNC School of Medicine.
The organizing committee, led by Missy Julian-Fox and Margie Haber, transformed
the restaurant into a 1950’s Donna Reed haven, complete with aprons, brooms
, and other items decorated to make household chores more festive and fun. These
items were available by auction or for sale.
On October 10, a Tickled Pink luncheon was held at Galloway Ridge. These attendees
heard from Drs. Paola Gehrig, assistant professor of surgery and a member of
the gynecologic oncology program, and Carolyn Sartor, co-director of the UNC
Breast Center.
The events raised research funds for women’s cancers .
