Tickled Pink 2006

More than 530 people attended the three Tickled Pink Events.

On October 3, Tickled Pink at Twilight premiered at Top of the Hill. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, pink libations and a bird’s eye view of Chapel Hill. This first-ever event attracted men and women, and haberdashery items were available for sale.

On October 5, Tickled Pink luncheon at Squids brought together women from across the Triangle. Guests were asked to bring a gift to be donated to the Patient and Family Resource Center at UNC Lineberger.

The speakers included Drs. Linda Van Le, associate professor of surgery and member of the gynecologic oncology program, and Etta Pisano, director of the UNC Biomedical Research Imaging Center and vice dean for academic research at the UNC School of Medicine.

The organizing committee, led by Missy Julian-Fox and Margie Haber, transformed the restaurant into a 1950’s Donna Reed haven, complete with aprons, brooms , and other items decorated to make household chores more festive and fun. These items were available by auction or for sale.

On October 10, a Tickled Pink luncheon was held at Galloway Ridge. These attendees heard from Drs. Paola Gehrig, assistant professor of surgery and a member of the gynecologic oncology program, and Carolyn Sartor, co-director of the UNC Breast Center.

The events raised research funds for women’s cancers .
