Button Chair and Book Signing Featured at this year's Sold Out Tickled Pink Luncheon
More than 300 people attended the sixth annual Tickled Pink luncheon held
at the Pope Box in Kenan Stadium. Led by event co-chairs Jean Durham and Julie
Amos Sermons, the event was a fun-filled success.
Breast cancer survivor Angela Jamison spoke to the capacity crowd about her
cancer experience and about the book called The Girls from Ames. The
book, by author Jeffrey Zaslow profiles the friendship of Angela and her girlfriends
who grew up together in Ames, Iowa, and who have stayed in touch over the years.
Jamison was introduced by Dr. Carey Anders, a medical oncologist with the UNC Breast Center.
Raffle items included everything from tickets to a Carolina Performing Arts event to a handmade baby quilt. Auction items ranged from gift certificates from Chapel Hill stores to a champagne brunch at the residence of Patty Thorp, wife of UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp.
