Jean Sellers, RN, MSN Clinical Administrative Director, UNC Cancer Network
Jean Sellers is directly responsible for the operations of the UNC Cancer Network clinical outreach navigation clinics and partnership programs in Dare County, at Mission Healthcare in Asheville, and at Leo Jenkins Cancer Center in Greenville, North Carolina. She is also part of the development team working to implement a consultation Nursing Navigation Model with community partners working with the UNC Cancer Network. She has worked with oncology practices throughout the state to assist with their transformation to a model that includes navigation. Successes include the development of both oncology and lay navigation programs, improvement in quality and clinical outcomes analysis, and patient and physician satisfaction.
Sellers bring more than 18 years of experience in nursing leadership. She has worked as a staff nurse on the inpatient oncology unit, a nurse navigator and has experience as a clinical manager for a community home health and hospice program. In 2005, she received the School of Nursing Distinguished Alumni award from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2007, she was one of the co-founders of the North Carolina Oncology Navigator Association. In 2010, she was selected to serve on a national think tank with Oncology Nurses and Oncology Social Workers, to develop a position paper defining the role of oncology nursing and oncology social work in patient navigation throughout the United States. She serves as a reviewer for numerous nursing journals. She has most recently been elected as President of the North Carolina Navigator Association.
