Tim Poe, Director of Telehealth
Tim Poe was hired as the new Director of Telehealth in December of 2014. He has over 24 years of experience delivering technology in healthcare, educational, for-profit, and state network settings across North Carolina. Prior to joining the UNC Cancer Network, Tim was the IT Director for VIF International Education, focussing on the migration of core business services to a cloud-based infrastructure. Tim also worked across the North Carolina K-20 education community to develop shared technology infrastructure at MCNC, and managed the Digital Media Services group at Duke University.
Julie Sweedler, MPH, Education Coordinator
Julie Sweedler was hired in 2011 as the Education Coordinator for the UNC Cancer Network’s Telehealth Program. She is responsible for managing two Telehealth Lecture Series: the RN & Allied Health and the Medical TeleHealth Lectures which reach 23 oncology practices across North Carolina and provide continuing education credits to participants. Prior to this Julie spent close to 2 years as the Education Director at a new specialty hospital in Botswana, southern Africa where she helped develop a continuing medical education program for the doctors there. Before that, she spent 7 years as the first manager of the Women’s Health Information Center at the N.C. Women’s Hospital. Julie received her Masters of Public Health in Health Behavior from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in 1994.
Mary King, Operational Coordinator
Prior to Mary’s arrival to Chapel Hill in 2011, she worked for the President Pro Tempore of the NC Senate for 15 years, and served as Director of Legislative Research and Member Services. While at the NC Senate, Mary had the pleasure of working directly with all branches of government and constituents throughout NC and beyond. Mary studied Business Administration at Shaw University and is presently pursuing a degree in nursing. Currently, Mary is the Operations Coordinator for the UNC Cancer Network where she helps to ensure all day to day operations run smoothly within the UNC Cancer Network.
