Loyal Supporters Honored at Annual UNC Lineberger Club Event

More than 280 people attended the 2012 UNC Lineberger Club event on Saturday, February 18, 2012. The event recognizes UNC Lineberger supporters who contribute $1000 or more annually to UNC Lineberger’s cancer treatment, research and prevention programs.

The highlight of the event was remarks by patient Emily Crawford,  a nurse at UNC’s surgery/trauma intensive care unit. She shared the story of her treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) at UNC by Dr. Bill Wood, assistant professor in the division of hematology and oncology. Read Emily's remarks.

UNC-Chapel Hill’s mascot, Ramses, mingled with the crowd. Guests enjoyed lunch at the Carolina Club and almost $3,000 was raised in a silent auction. After lunch, attendees made their way to the Dean E. Smith Center to watch the Tar Heel men’s basketball team take on Clemson.
