It is important that we work together to raise awareness and find a cure. Although it is not widely discussed, bladder cancer is the 5th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States – 4th among men and 11th among women. There are over 520,000 bladder cancer survivors in the United States.
Because bladder cancer has a very high recurrence rate (50-80%), it requires life-long surveillance and is the most expensive cancer to treat on a per patient basis.
The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) was founded in 2005 and its mission is to increase public awareness about bladder cancer; to advance bladder cancer research; and to provide educational and support services for the bladder cancer community.
All of the proceeds raised from this Walk are going directly to support BCAN’s efforts. At least half of the money is going directly to research, and the rest is going to support BCAN’s programs such as patient support, webinars, information, and outreach.
Please RSVP to Amanda Pruthi and Dr. Weissman if you will be attending the walk. Find out more.
