Which health insurance plans are accepted at the N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital?
Please see Insurance Accepted at UNC Health.
What is the visitor policy?
General visiting hours: 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times and may only visit during approved hours. Children are restricted from visiting all intensive care units, patients on isolation, and patients on Protective Precautions unless they have a physician’s order. Before visiting, children must be screened for contagious illness by the staff on the patient care unit.
Will I be able to use my cell phone in a patient room or exam room?
No, you will not be able to use your cell phone in patient or exam rooms. Wireless communication devices tend to have electromagnetic interference, which could interfere with medical equipment.
The use of wireless communication devices (WCDs) by patients and visitors is banned in all areas of the medical center with the exception of the following: cellular/cordless telephones may be used by patients and visitors in main lobbies of the Hospitals, and in food service areas.
Note that WCDs such as cellular/cordless phones should always be turned off when not in those areas where their use is allowed. You may see nurses using cordless phones. These phones operate on a frequency that does not interfere with medical equipment.
Is there a computer available where I can look up information about my own or my family member’s diagnosis on the Internet?
Yes, the Patient and Family Resource Center, located off the N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital’s main lobby, has computers available for use by patients and family members.
