Dan Reuland

Co-Director
Dan Reuland, MD MPH, is a general internist and a professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology. He has been developing and implementing cancer screening interventions for several years, and much of his work aims to enhance our understanding of how to make cancer screening more appropriate and patient-centered. Dr. Reuland oversees all project activity within the CCSI.

Melissa Troester

Co-Director
Melissa Troester, PhD, is a professor at the University of North Carolina in the Department of Epidemiology, a research professor at the University of North Carolina Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and the Director for the University of North Carolina Center for Environmental Health and Susceptibility. Dr. Troester studies breast cancer and benign breast disease using genomic, molecular pathology and epidemiologic approaches. She is the principal investigator on the Carolina Breast Cancer Study and co-leader of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Cancer Epidemiology program.

Louise Henderson

Co-Director
Louise Henderson, PhD, is a professor at the University of North Carolina in the Department of Radiology and an adjunct professor in the Department of Epidemiology. Her research focuses on generating evidence on the benefits and harms of cancer screening in the areas of breast, liver, and lung cancer. She is Director of the Carolina Mammography Registry (part of the national Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium), Director of the North Carolina Lung Screening Registry, and co-leader of the Cancer Epidemiology Program at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Alison Brenner

Deputy Director
Alison Brenner, PhD MPH, is a research assistant professor at the University of North Carolina in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology. Much of her previous and current work has focused on improving colorectal cancer screening in vulnerable populations, and she is particularly interested in the use of clinical data systems to improve the delivery of patient-centered care. Dr. Brenner oversees research operations at CCSI and leads or participates in all of CCSI’s projects.
