Vision
To develop and sustain a community that actively partners with UNC Lineberger to reduce the burden of cancer and eliminate cancer disparities in North Carolina and beyond.
Mission
To meaningfully engage the community in UNC Lineberger cancer research, clinical care and programmatic efforts to better understand and serve the population’s needs.
Goals/Aims
1: Monitor the cancer burden and identify disparities in North Carolina

- Monitor and describe the cancer burden and cancer disparities in North Carolina
2: Synergize institutional and community efforts to engage diverse stakeholders in addressing the cancer burden and reducing cancer health disparities in North Carolina

- Coordinate COE activities at UNC Lineberger and beyond
- Inventory community-engaged and cancer health equity research at UNC
- Strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders who will inform and promote the COE mission
- Establish the Community Advisory Board (CAB) and communication infrastructure
3: Amplify cancer outreach and supportive care efforts with diverse stakeholder audiences

- Disseminate information about COE and community successes to diverse audiences
- Facilitate improved access to cancer care and cancer support services
4: Facilitate impactful and equity-focused cancer research in North Carolina and beyond

- Infuse cancer research with community stakeholder perspectives to understand cancer determinants and reduce cancer disparities in NC and beyond
- Ensure that accrual to clinical trials mirrors the demographics of the catchment area
