Sherette Godfrey, PhD, is a Project Manager for Team Science at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her overall role is supporting initiatives in emerging areas of interest for NCI and UNC Lineberger through an increase in extramural funding for team science research through proposal development for grants and internships as a collaborator to researchers, PIs, administrators, and others across UNC-Chapel Hill and other institutions.
Dr. Godfrey has had the privilege to train and support many students in undergraduate and masters programs at both NC A&T and UNC. Prior to her role as a project manager, she completed her PhD in Applied Science and technology with a focus on health disparities as related to Triple-Negative Breast Cancer at NC A&T, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at UNC where she continued health disparities research on endometrial cancer with a focus on chromatin and epigenetic remodeling.
She serves as the Program Manager for CUREP.

Temitope O. Keku, MSPH, PhD, is a Professor of Gastroenterology and Cancer Epidemiology at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. She conducts translational research, combining basic science with epidemiology to gain a better understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of cancer, especially colorectal cancer.
Her primary research interests include gene environment interactions, biomarkers of cancer risk, molecular markers of prognosis, and health disparities. She has developed and led multidisciplinary collaborations with scientists locally at UNC and at the national and international levels.
She is a Co-PI at UNC-Chapel Hill for CUREP.

Ashley Leak Bryant, PhD, RN, OCN, FAAN, is the Senior Associate Dean for Global Initiatives and the Frances Hill Fox Distinguished Professor in the School of Nursing. She also serves as the director of the School’s Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Collaborating Center in Quality and Safety Education in Nursing and Midwifery.
She is also assistant director of Cancer Research Training Education Coordination at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Bryant is passionate about mentoring. She mentors early-career faculty, pre- and postdoctoral scholars, PhD students, DNP students, Masters students, and undergraduate honors students across multiple disciplines and institutions.
She serves as Co-PI at UNC-Chapel Hill for CUREP.

Wendy Heck-Grillo, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). Her research focuses on science education.
She has several funded R25 grants to provide research opportunities and professional development to both undergraduate and graduate students with the goal of increasing diversity in the biomedical workforce.
She serves as the NCCU principal investigator and contact for the CUREP program.

Checo J. Rorie, PhD, is the Chair of the Department of Biology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T). He is also an Associate Professor of Genetics and has a Cancer Genetics and Cell Biology lab where he trains both undergraduate and graduate students in research.
He serves as the NC A&T principal investigator and contact for the CUREP program.
