About

Dr. Cody Schwartz was thrilled to accept the offer as faculty in the division of Musculoskeletal Imaging after completing his residency and subsequent MSK Imaging fellowship at UNC in 2018. Dr. Schwartz chose a career in medicine because he saw it as a calling and passion. He wanted to help people feel well and lead overall healthy lives. During medical school, he chose to become a Radiologist because of a strong desire to be at the forefront of diagnosis and technology. He also wanted to work with all different types of specialties. Further, he wanted the ability to help our clinicians treat our patients to their fullest potential.

Dr. Schwartz is UNC Radiology’s Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology residency program, previously serving as Associate Program Director. He is a Chapel Hill higher education lifer, having completed his undergraduate, medical, and public health graduate training all at UNC in Chapel Hill. Current clinical and research interests include sports and tumor imaging, radiofrequency ablation, emergency radiology, and imaging quality improvement. Dr. Schwartz has a vested interest in education for radiology residents and medical students, undergraduates, and radiology fellows.  Primary educational interests include continuously refining the residency curriculum and promoting early exposure to the field for medical students and undergraduates to train high-level future radiology leaders.

My philosophy of care is to treat each patient as if they were a family member. Remember that there is a person in front of every image.
