Joanna Ramirez

MPH
Community Outreach Coordinator, Community Outreach and Engagement
UNC Lineberger

Joanna Ramirez is the Community Outreach Coordinator at UNC Lineberger’s COE Office. She brings experience working in rural North Carolina communities where she has collected oral histories exploring narratives of health and healthcare in rural North Carolina with the Southern Oral History Program, worked and lived on a non-profit community farm for adults with disabilities, and traveled as a Certified Nurse Aide providing home-health care to predominantly rural North Carolina.

Prior to receiving her MPH in Health Behavior from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, she was a research data coordinator at the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte. Her community work revived her passion for treating the person, not the diagnosis, and to galvanize existing resources and incorporate new technologies to improve health and advocate for healthier futures.
