Area of interest

I am in involved in clinical and translational research, primarily in gastrointestinal cancers and also in nanotechnology. I work with laboratory scientists to help advance clinical research and bring new ideas from the laboratory to clinical fruition. I have been interested in radiation sensitizers in the treatment of rectal cancer as well as combined modality therapy for many diseases in the GI track.

  • Demonstration of the importance of sub staging of rectal cancer for individualization of adjuvant therapy
  • Early phase studies defining the ability to combine various agents (farnesyl transferase inhibitors, gemcitabine, oxaliplatin) with radiation therapy in various tumor types
  • Design of new radiation parameters for adjuvant treatment of gastric cancer and its implementation in the new Intergroup gastric adjuvant trial
