Biography
John Monge, MD, is originally from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he obtained his bachelor’s and medical degrees. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in downtown Chicago. Afterward, he trained at the University of North Carolina as a Breast Imaging Fellow. After his fellowship, he accepted a position in private practice with Raleigh Radiology before returning to UNC. Dr. Monge’s interests are serving underrepresented populations and medical education. His hobbies include baseball, basketball, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Monge chose a career as a doctor after a medical mistake adversely affected a family member. As a physician, he works diligently to help prevent such mistakes from affecting his patients. He became a radiologist because age nor organ binds this area of medicine. He can positively affect patients’ lives through radiology regardless of gender or illness.
