Area of Interest

We don’t all have the same chance to live a long and healthy life. In my research, I seek to document, understand, and reduce unfairness in health by building evidence for policy interventions that make a difference.

I focus this work in three areas:

  1. The health of young people at risk of tobacco use
  2. The health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people
  3. The health of farmworkers and farmworker families

Much of work is centered in eastern North Carolina at East Carolina University’s Department of Health Education and Health Promotion.
