Lauren Matthews, MPH, is the Director of Operations for Cancer Research Equity and Outreach at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. She oversees the administration and daily operations of the Lineberger Excellence Council and the Cancer Research Equity & Advocacy through Engagement (CREATE) Initiative.
With extensive experience managing NIH- and NCI-funded projects, Lauren’s work focuses on addressing disparities in cancer care and outcomes. She is deeply passionate about increasing awareness and participation in research among underrepresented populations. Throughout her career, she has successfully engaged communities of color in cancer prevention, screening, and research participation. Collaborating closely with health systems and community partners, she has helped deliver essential cancer screening and resources directly to underserved populations.
Lauren earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She plans to pursue an advanced degree in the near future, focusing on leadership and public health policy.
