Area of Interest
My interests are:
- Understanding and improving care for children with pediatric solid tumors
- Understanding the burden of care on families (“financial toxicity”) and how to support them
As a clinically active pediatric surgeon with a focus on surgical oncology, I understand the technical difficulties of caring for infants and children with cancer where we as surgeons are often defeated by tumor biology.
I also understand the enormous social and emotional toll cancer care takes on children and families. As a physician-scientist, I am fortunate to have trained in the rich environments of Harvard, Duke, and Boston Children’s Hospital, providing me with knowledge and experience in the areas of translational medicine, clinical outcomes research, and clinical pediatric surgery.
